Welcome to Sevdah North America, Inc. (SNA)

On behalf of the Board and Advisory Council of Sevdah North America,we would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Omer Pobric, founder of the Sevdah Institute in Mulici, Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Mr. Pobric died of a fatal heart attack while driving on January 20, 2010.  It is a devastating loss .  He was an icon of  sevdah, great artist and humanitarian.  God rest his soul.  Rahmet mu dusi.  Tributes and interviews are on the SNA News page.

Sevdah North America, Inc. (SNA) is an all-volunteer educational organization formed in 2007 to preserve, promote, and document sevdah, the traditional urban music of town centers of old Bosnia and Herzegovina. SNA's events and projects range from small community events to major performances, recordings, and educational events. A special effort is made to create inter-generational activities that involve under-served communities and artists, recognizing that sevdah creates a musical bridge between cultures and offers a bottomless well of healing.
